Head of Innovation

Join us in this role where you’ll lead a strong team and value creating portfolios of R&D technical activities in clean energy or adjacent technologies. In addition, you’ll lead cross-functional projects across our organisation while driving cultural change.

Welcome to Strategy Innovation Portfolio and Digital
You’ll be part of Innovation where you, together with your colleagues, will lead Innovation across the organisation and convene our Innovation Board which governs strategy and technology investments across the company. You’ll be reporting to the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and lead the Group Innovation team. Your other tasks will include building our external innovation profile, incl. implementing our communication strategy that features innovation as one of the core pillars of the company, as well as managing a portfolio of R&D and technology commercialization investments. As a team, we provide innovation shared services, foster an innovation culture across the company, and collaborate with colleagues across the company and with partners in the external innovation ecosystem such as leading-edge startups and top global universities.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • delivering a prioritised portfolio of innovation activities with clearly articulated high-value investments and clear decisions on which activities to prioritise or discontinue
  • implementing a clear framework for allocating resources across thematic roadmaps, e.g., core offshore wind tech, electric systems, sustainability, and technology readiness levels and applications
  • leading a strong innovation management team and driving performance and empathetic culture within the Group Innovation team
  • building strong collaboration across innovation units throughout the organisation, and implementing the Innovation Board's mandate to drive a coherent innovation strategy
  • demonstrating progress in building competitive advantage from our technology investments, incl. protecting innovations through intellectual property rights, such as patents.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a technical postgraduate degree, preferably Ph.D as well as experience in leading teams, corporate innovation organisations, and project leadership
  • have expertise in a clean energy industry or adjacent sector
  • possess strong collaboration skills and ability to work in cross-functional contexts and build followership
  • demonstrate commercial competencies and the ability to write and present business cases
  • are a strategic thinker with strong implementation mindset, excellent stakeholder management, and  external relationship-building capabilities
  • have excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complicated topics in an easily digestible manner paired with experience of working in a dynamic international environment.
