Hi! We’re Ørsted Denmark

Explore a world of career opportunities with Ørsted in Denmark. From supporting the wider business at our global headquarters to keeping one of the planet’s most efficient biomass power stations up and running, there’s a job for almost every speciality in the country where Ørsted was founded.

Ørsted’s story began here in 1973 – but back then, we were a very different company. Originally named Danish Oil & Natural Gas (DONG), we started out drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea for the Danish state.

For many years we’ve been known in Denmark as a household energy supplier, first as DONG Energy, more recently as Ørsted. But today, we’re focusing our efforts on a bigger vision: creating a world that runs entirely on green energy.

In 1991, we made Denmark the home of the world’s first-ever offshore wind farm, and today, we’ve transitioned almost entirely away from fossil fuels to renewable energy. In doing so, we’ve not only dramatically reduced Denmark’s carbon emissions – we’ve also given the world a new sustainable power source and brought it to maturity in a number of different countries, creating thousands of jobs.

Offices
  • Gentofte

We’ve been in Gentofte in the greater Copenhagen area since 2002. This is our largest office in Denmark, with approximately 2,950 employees.

    A well-connected, international workplace

Our light, modern, open office in Gentofte is situated about 10 km north of the Copenhagen city centre, easily accessible by bike, train, bus, and car. The office has plenty of cycle and car parking spaces available free of charge, including e-car charging points. As well as bus stops on the doorstep, nearby Jægersborg S-train station provides a quick and direct connection to Copenhagen’s northern and southern suburbs, the city centre (17 minutes to Nørreport), and the rest of the public transport network. The station is only 10-15 minutes away via the staff foot tunnel, which provides a shortcut under the motorway.

Roles in the Gentofte office are wide-ranging, including the following functions:

    • Administration
    • IT and digital
    • Engineering and construction
    • Finance and controlling
    • Human resources
    • Marketing, branding, and communication
    • Procurement
    • Sales and energy trading
    • Operations and technicians
    • Strategy and business development
    • Public affairs, regulatory, and legal

    • Massage, treatments, and physiotherapy
    • Online rehabilitation programmes
    • Stress prevention and psychological counselling

To promote cycling to work, lockers (limited number) and showers are available, and we offer free bike services on site during office hours, with the option to pay for more substantial repairs or new parts.

    Eat well, work well

For a modest monthly fee, staff can eat breakfast and lunch in our newly renovated canteen, which serves a high-quality, healthy, and varied menu with options reflecting the diversity of our employees. We also provide everyone working at Gentofte with fruit every day, whether or not they’re part of the canteen scheme.

Coffee vending machines around the building can be used free of charge, and there’s also a cosy café selling barista coffee, smoothies, and snacks at a discounted rate.

    An inspiring space

The café, canteen, and other common areas are designed to enhance the working environment. With trees and water features inside and outside, you’ll find plenty of space to sit or walk, for reflection and collaboration, department events, and even private dining after work.

    Make a connection

Our staff club, ARENA, gives employees the opportunity to socialise together outside of work hours. Activities include everything from sport to art and culture, and there’s often a possibility for friends and family to join in too.

Meanwhile, Ørsted Students and the Graduate Alumni International Network give our student assistants and graduates, respectively, the chance to connect with one another socially and professionally and expand their personal networks.

Power plant
  • Avedøre

Home to one of the world’s most efficient combined heat and power plants, Avedøre, south of Copenhagen, has 147 staff working in technical and administrative roles.

A tight-knit community keeping Copenhagen warm

Avedøre Power Station was commissioned in 1990 to provide district heating and electricity for the Greater Copenhagen area. Today, a close community of Ørsted employees works across three buildings in both technical and administrative roles.

The site has easy access to the motorway and is situated only a short bus ride from Friheden station. From here, it’s a short journey to the city centre by S-train (18 minutes to Nørreport). There are plenty of cycle and car parking spaces, including e-car charging points.

Roles at Avedøre are in the following areas:

We also provide everyone working at Avedøre with fruit every day, whether or not they are part of the canteen scheme. The canteen can be used as a common area for smaller meetings.

As well as great indoor fitness facilities, staff here have the possibility to make the most of Avedøre’s coastal location by borrowing sailing and water sports equipment, such as kayaks and paddle boards.

    Make a connection

The staff club at Avedøre is called Trekløveren. It offers sport and cultural activities, organises summer celebrations, Christmas parties, and groups for people with diverse interests, from books to wine to bikes. Friends and family can often participate in activities organised by Trekløveren.

Wind farm
  • Anholt

Located in the Kattegat Sea, Anholt is one of Denmark’s largest offshore wind farms. It’s operated and maintained by 50 people based at the onshore service organisation in Grenå, 60 km east of Aarhus in Jutland.

A close community of highly skilled workers

Anholt offshore windfarm has its onshore base in Grenå, the principle town of the beautiful Djursland peninsula in north-east Jutland. Operating here since 2012, the service operation consists of highly skilled wind turbine technicians, service vessel crew, and administrative functions. Many employees live locally in and around Grenå, meaning they can walk or cycle to work. For those coming from further afield, there are parking spaces on site and a bus stop nearby. Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus, is about one hour away by car or light rail.

Areas of work at Anholt include:

    • Administration
    • Finance and controlling
    • Procurement
    • Operations and technicians
    • Facilities

Brand new facilities on the quayside

The site consists of two new purpose-built office buildings – one for administrative staff, one for technicians – along with storage and workshop facilities. All staff are served by the office canteen and fitness room and have use of site bikes free of charge. The quayside location provides easy access to service vessels and an incredible view over the Kattegat sea.

Life as a technician at Anholt

The technicians who maintain Anholt are divided into two teams, alternating duty and leave every week. When the weather prevents work from taking place on the windfarm itself, on-duty technicians have access to excellent recreation facilities. There is also a large grill at the office so technicians can cook together after a long day off shore.

    An active staff club

The Anholt Staff Club is very active, organising various social events and activities throughout the year. The club offers free access to swimming facilities, Crossfit, mountain bikes, and paddle boards, which can be used in the spare time with colleagues, family, and friends. The running club is a very popular activity.
