Risk Manager

Imagine a future where you will use your flair for numbers and risk management to take part in shaping a solid 2nd line risk function in one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world

Join us in this role where you’ll contribute to building and strengthening our revenue risk function by providing independent risk assessments, high-quality reporting, and ensure accurate risk representation.

Welcome to Group Revenue Risk
You’ll be part of the newly established Revenue Risk - Asset & Trading team within Group Revenue Risk where you, together with your colleagues, will play an important role in safeguarding the financial risks from fluctuations in energy prices and production volumes from Ørsted’s operating assets (wind farms, solar photovoltaic and power plants).

As a department, we have recently embarked on a journey to become the best-in-class 2nd line of defense function setting the standard for a strong risk culture – and you will be key in supporting this journey.

We have a diverse spectrum of stakeholders and work closely together with colleagues in Finance, Trading and 1st line risk management functions. To support and challenge them we must deeply understand the risks from the underlying business and how 1st line manage these. This implies getting familiar with trading and hedging strategies, understanding the price structures of our operating assets, which often have different non-linear pay-off structures, and assessing the impact on Ørsted’s risk appetite limits. We must be able to both quantify the risk and to explain complex challenges as clear and action-oriented recommendations to support solid decision making.

As a team, we combine deep risk expertise with a collaborative, curious and inclusive team-player culture. We value open dialogue and take pride in building a strong 2nd line of defense function that supports Ørsted’s vision of creating a world that runs entirely on green energy — while making sure there’s always room for laughter and learning.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • providing independent risk assessments and analysis to challenge commercial decisions and safeguard key financial figures
  • ensuring that our risk model accurately calculates revenue risks for both individual assets and on a portfolio level
  • developing our Risk Report to senior management and other stakeholders
  • analyzing new commercial product / strategy initiatives by e.g. addressing whether it qualifies as a hedging or trading activity, assessing the correlation to the existing asset portfolio, etc.
  • maturing frameworks and processes to create clarity in risk accountability, roles and responsibilities and ensure compliance with limits and thresholds provided by the Board of Directors.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a strong mathematical and/or financial background with a master’s degree in Mathematical-Economics, Economics (cand.polit), mathematics (e.g. Cand.Merc.Mat) or similar with up to a couple of years of experience
  • have a strong financial understanding and are eager to use and develop those skills through maturing our risk modelling and reporting
  • are familiar with derivatives like forwards, futures and options and have a basic understanding of hedging strategies
  • have excellent IT skills preferably with some coding experience (e.g. python, C#, SQL)
  • are motivated by stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
  • are comfortable working in a dynamic and international environment.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
