New executive to join DONG Energy's Group Management

14.11.06 Lars Clausen has been appointed new Executive Vice President at DONG Energy and Managing Director of Sales & Distribution and will take office on 1 January 2007. Lars Clausen (47) comes from a position as General Manager at Shell, London and was previously Country Chairman of Dansk Shell. The business unit Gas Distribution & Storage will be transferred to Sales & Distribution, headed by Lars Clausen. Senior Vice President Peter Skak-Iversen remains in charge of Gas Distribution & Storage. Executive Vice President Poul Lind has decided to resign his position as Managing Director of Sales & Distribution at DONG Energy to become CEO of Power Sense, a portfolio company under BankInvest New Energy Solutions. "Poul has played a major role in the formation of DONG Energy and has helped foster a team spirit throughout the group. Mr Lind's expertise and dedicated efforts were indispensable especially during the highly successful merger of the former Nesa and the electricity activities of Københavns Energi. He has made an important impact on the group," says DONG Energy's CEO Anders Eldrup, and continues: "I look forward to working with Lars Clausen. His extensive know-how about the European energy sector will benefit DONG Energy greatly." Torkil Bentzen, Executive Vice President of DONG Energy has earlier announced that he will be stepping down at the end of the year. In that connection, Niels Bergh-Hansen, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Generation, will take over the helm at Renewables. However, the business unit will remain independent, which is why Per Holmgård, 55 and Senior Vice President of Technology & Production in Renewables, will be appointed Senior Vice President of Renewables.
