Can you catch

the wind?

Ørsted student match race

Exclusive student event

Are you ready for a challenge packed with fun, friends and full sails?

Ørsted invites you to participate in a match race where you’ll race against other students across study lines. Each boat will be sailed by a crew of five students guided by a professional sailor.

In these fast match race boats, you’re competing on a short course on open water. You and your crew go head-to-head against the other student boats, one at the time. The objective is simple – be first to cross the finish line. To succeed, you must be smart and work together to catch the wind.

Each crew will be mixed from different study lines – and as a team, you’ll learn to collaborate and communicate to outperform the other boats. All the boats are identical – it’s only your ability to work together that makes the difference!

This match race will teach you how to work closely together to deliver results – while having lots of fun. You don’t need to have any previous experience with sailing, and the event is free of charge.

What is a match race?

In a match race, two identical boats race each other on a short course on open water. You and your team will go head-to-head against another student boat in a dual on strategy and tactics, where the objective is simple – to be the first to cross the finish line. And to do that, you must catch the wind and outwit your opponent.

We’ll mix the teams for the boats – and as a team, you’ll have to work out your roles onboard, how to collaborate and communicate to make your boat perform – and outperform the other boats. And mind you, the boats are identical – it’s your ability to work together as a team that makes the difference!

In short, a match race will teach you how to work together in a team to deliver exceptional results – while having fun.
