Hi! We’re Ørsted Denmark

Explore a world of career opportunities with Ørsted in Denmark. From supporting the wider business at our global headquarters to keeping one of the planet’s most efficient biomass power stations up and running, there’s a job for almost every speciality in the country where Ørsted was founded.

Ørsted’s story began here in 1973 – but back then, we were a very different company. Originally named Danish Oil & Natural Gas (DONG), we started out drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea for the Danish state.

For many years we’ve been known in Denmark as a household energy supplier, first as DONG Energy, more recently as Ørsted. But today, we’re focusing our efforts on a bigger vision: creating a world that runs entirely on green energy.

In 1991, we made Denmark the home of the world’s first-ever offshore wind farm, and today, we’ve transitioned almost entirely away from fossil fuels to renewable energy. In doing so, we’ve not only dramatically reduced Denmark’s carbon emissions – we’ve also given the world a new sustainable power source and brought it to maturity in a number of different countries, creating thousands of jobs.

Wind farm
  • Anholt

Located in the Kattegat Sea, Anholt is one of Denmark’s largest offshore wind farms. It’s operated and maintained by 50 people based at the onshore service organisation in Grenå, 60 km east of Aarhus in Jutland.

A close community of highly skilled workers

Anholt offshore windfarm has its onshore base in Grenå, the principle town of the beautiful Djursland peninsula in north-east Jutland. Operating here since 2012, the service operation consists of highly skilled wind turbine technicians, service vessel crew, and administrative functions. Many employees live locally in and around Grenå, meaning they can walk or cycle to work. For those coming from further afield, there are parking spaces on site and a bus stop nearby. Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus, is about one hour away by car or light rail.

Areas of work at Anholt include:

    • Administration
    • Finance and controlling
    • Procurement
    • Operations and technicians
    • Facilities

Brand new facilities on the quayside

The site consists of two new purpose-built office buildings – one for administrative staff, one for technicians – along with storage and workshop facilities. All staff are served by the office canteen and fitness room and have use of site bikes free of charge. The quayside location provides easy access to service vessels and an incredible view over the Kattegat sea.

Life as a technician at Anholt

The technicians who maintain Anholt are divided into two teams, alternating duty and leave every week. When the weather prevents work from taking place on the windfarm itself, on-duty technicians have access to excellent recreation facilities. There is also a large grill at the office so technicians can cook together after a long day off shore.

    An active staff club

The Anholt Staff Club is very active, organising various social events and activities throughout the year. The club offers free access to swimming facilities, Crossfit, mountain bikes, and paddle boards, which can be used in the spare time with colleagues, family, and friends. The running club is a very popular activity.
