Solar is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy technologies

At Ørsted, we’re utilising solar power to harness nature’s resources and deliver clean, renewable power to the population.

We develop, construct, and operate solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage systems, we currently have almost 2500 MWAC of solar PV and storage installed1 and more than 400 MWAC under construction2.

Our sustainable approach to project development balances complex siting data with community needs to develop solar projects that exceed economic expectations, while earning the trust and support of local communities and landowners.

Benefits

Key benefits of utility-scale solar 

Coupled with batteries, solar becomes a dispatchable source of power that reliably delivers electricity during peak demand. 

In addition, batteries provide other attractive services to the grid that have yet to be fully explored. Batteries can respond quicker to requests for power than conventional generation, making them a valuable and nimble tool for grid operators.

From a system perspective, as more variable wind and solar resources are added to the grid, large batteries help balance the system. Likewise, as more batteries are added, more solar can be reliably integrated into the grid, creating a mutually beneficial system.

Notwithstanding the foregoing conditions are not fulfilled, renewable capacities from acquisitions are also added to the installed capacity.   


2 Capacity under Construction for the group means renewable capacity under construction where a final investment decision (FID) has been made and where the group has or has had an ownership share and an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) role in the project, disregarding whether such capacity was originally or has subsequently been divested, in full or in part.
