Empowering the next generation of climate leaders  



Achieving the targets of the Paris Agreement rests on a global collaborative effort – an effort that must include a broad range of ideas and initiatives. That's why we're excited to launch our Youth Panel — a forum connecting today’s decision-makers with the climate leaders of tomorrow

 

We want to create a space to evaluate the work we do today and bring in a diversity of perspectives to challenge and sharpen our approach to building a world that runs entirely on green energy.

The Ørsted Youth Panel will offer a platform to bring practical advice and concrete recommendations to our sustainability agenda directly to our CEO and senior management.  We want this to be a forum that amplifies the voices of young changemakers and serves as a room for discussing their perspectives on how to deliver a rapid and just green energy transformation.  

For our first cohort, we're looking for up to eight forward-thinking young adults from all walks of life. The first cohort will serve for 1.5 years, starting in the fall of 2023 and last until the end of 2024.  

Who are we looking for? 


We’re looking for young adults:

  • Aged 18 – 24 at the time of the application deadline
  • From all educational backgrounds, nationalities, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexes, gender identities, sexual orientations, political beliefs, social classes, physical abilities or attributes, and religions
  • With a creative mindset and passion for solving the world’s sustainability challenges
  • Open minded individuals that can work well in diverse and dynamic teams 
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Willing to dedicate approximately 4 full days for in-person meetings (in November 2023 and throughout 2024) and 8 hours for virtual meetings  

*Please note that internet connection is required and that we sometimes might meet at irregular meeting hours due to different time zones among the panel members

  • Who can apply?
    Please refer to the points listed under “who are we looking for”. We welcome applications from people all over the world. If you’re passionate about shaping how businesses should contribute to a green and just energy transition and are between the ages of 18-24 (by the time of the application deadline) then you should apply!
  • What kind of characteristics are we looking for? / What are we looking for in the essays?
    We would like the panel to offer a fresh and future-oriented perspective to our sustainability agenda. We’re particularly interested in applicants showcasing that they can not only make sense of current sustainability topics, but also look at these topics through a future-scenarios lens. In addition, we are looking for young adults that have taken their passion and turned it into real-life impact to build a more sustainable future. 
  • When does the application process end? 
    Applicants can submit their applications to youthpanel@orsted.com by the latest until August 21, 2023.
  • When and how will the selection process take place?
    Based on the written application material, we’ll shortlist a pool of applicants, who we’ll invite for a virtual interview. The virtual interviews are set to take place between 4 September 2023 – 8 September 2023.  
  • How will the applicants be notified about their application status? 
    We’ll inform all applications via e-mail. 
  • Where is the in-person meeting in 2023 taking place and when? 
    The inaugural meeting will take place from 7 November 2023 to 10 November 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark. 
  • Do the Panel members receive financial assistance for their travel and accommodation costs? 
    Yes, all necessary costs for travel and accommodation in relation to the Ørsted Youth Panel activities will be covered by Ørsted. 
  • What will be the working language of the Panel? 
    The working language will be English.
