We want to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We’re determined to scale renewable solutions that not only generate renewable, secure energy but also reduce emissions throughout the life cycle of our assets. Decarbonisation is central to our business, as guided by our science-based 2040 net-zero target, which is validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
In less than a decade, we've transformed from one of Europe’s most coal-intensive power generators into a global leader in renewable energy. By investing heavily in renewables – including offshore wind, onshore wind, and solar PV – and phasing out fossil fuels, we’ve become one of the world’s largest renewable energy companies and the global leader in offshore wind.
In 2024, we closed our one remaining coal-fired combined heat and power plant. This keeps us on track to achieve our industry-leading target of a 98 % reduction in scope 1-2 emissions intensity by 2025.
But we aspire to more. We aim to reduce emissions across the manufacturing, installation, transport, and operation of our renewable energy assets. We're focused on adopting new technologies to speed up decarbonisation in sectors we rely on, such as steel and shipping, and developing circular solutions with key suppliers to cut down on virgin materials. Collaboration across industries is key to addressing these hard-to-reduce emissions.
We're committed to investing only in renewable energy projects that meet strict sustainability standards (aligned with the EU taxonomy), helping us reduce risks, boost resilience, and secure financing.
