Top deck for Hejre installed in Okpo

On Saturday 11 July 2015, the top deck for the Hejre platform was smoothly lifted into place at the DSME yard in Okpo, South Korea.

Facts about Hejre topside

It is estimated that around 50 tonnes of material still remains to be installed on the top deck alone before the topside is ready to sail way in 2016.

All in all, the Hejre topside will weigh an estimated 17,500 tonnes when finished.

The Hejre development will represent the largest oil and gas project in the Danish sector.

The top deck was the last deck to be installed on the Hejre oil platform topside. Using two large crawler cranes, the procedure involved a tandem lift of the 503-tonne top deck, and a set-down point approx. 50 metres above ground level.

Director in DONG Energy, Christian Eilersen said:

“This is a very proud moment for all of us in the Korea team. With the top deck in position, we have completed the major structural work on the Hejre platform with a strong commitment to quality and to safety”.

He continued:

“We will be working closely with the contractors DSME and Technip in order to maintain this focus moving forward”.

In the coming months, all the process equipment, piping, spools and cable pulling will be installed on the topside. At the moment, some 650 workers are working on the topside every day to ensure completion of the installations by spring 2016.
