Timelapse of the installation of the new offshore substation for Westermost Rough.

About Westermost Rough

Westermost Rough is located in the North Sea, east of Hull in Yorkshire. When completed the wind farm will consist of 35 6MW turbines and will be able to deliver CO2-free electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of 210,000 British households. Earlier this year Japanese investment giant Marubeni Corporation and UK Green Investment Bank each bought 25 per cent stakes in the project.

  • Number of turbines: 35
  • Type: Siemens WTG 6.0MW
  • Total capacity: 210MW
  • Price: Approximately EUR 1 billion

Lots of photos were taken. Several films were made. And the event called for it. The substation for Westermost Rough was placed firmly on the jacket in the beginning of June, 2014 and it was a very smooth and a very fast process.

Following the set-down, the welding of the topside to the jacket was performed, the lifting rigging removed and the stairs connecting the topside to the boat landings lowered.
