3. CV or resumé

Formats differ around the world, but no matter which country you’re applying to work in, we expect to read CVs and resumés written with the job specification in mind.r

We want to know why you’re the best fit for a specific position, so you should emphasise the competences and skills that match the role you’re applying for. Keep it structured and concise. Think about the layout, and use bullets or short sentences to highlight your accomplishments.

Even if you do not see yourself in all the bullets in the job description, we still encourage you to apply if you believe you can make an impact on our team.

We don’t just want to fill a position – we’re on the lookout for truly diverse talent with the motivation and drive to shape the future with us.

Tip:

We review resumés/CVs as they come in, so the sooner you apply, the better.

We know the decision to join a new organisation is a big one, and we want you to make an informed decision that’s right for you and your career. We’re committed to ensuring you have a positive experience through our recruitment process. We’re excited to get to know you and for you to get to know us!

So how do I apply?

Sign in if you already have an account, or click ‘create an account’.

Fill in the application form, and upload your documents. You’ll receive a confirmation email shortly after you’ve submitted your application.

Tip:

The job advert will be removed from the site after the application deadline, so make sure you save a copy.

5. Assessment process

We read every application individually. You’ll always hear back from us, regardless of the outcome of your application. Please note that we only take applications sent through our official systems into account. If we think your profile matches the role, we’ll be in contact out you.

At the interview, our aim is to get to know you better, by hearing about your skills, experiences and expectations, and to give you an insight into the team, the role and Ørsted's culture. We know the decision to join a new organisation is significant and we want you to make an informed decision that's right for you.

There are three stages to the assessment process for those that make it to the final round. Please see the outline of each stage below. Interviews can be in person or virtual.

Initial call with a talent acquisition partner
This initial call will entail a conversation by phone to assess your interest, motivations, skills and experience and expectations with a talent acquisition partner.

First round interview with a hiring manager
The first round interview will be conducted by the hiring manager and focuses on the skills and expertise needed in the role.

Second round interviews with a panel
If you’re invited for a second round of interviews, the focus will be on the behavioural competencies important for success in the role, undertaken by stakeholders for the role you’ve applied to. We want to get to know the real you, so we encourage you to be yourself and not think too much about what you think we want to hear.

For some roles, you may be asked to complete a business case exercise. If so, your talent acquisition partner will provide more information, enabling you to prepare.

Questions to the assessment process?
Your talent acquisition partner will inform you on the outcome of your interviews as soon as a hiring decision is made. If you have any questions about the process, please reach out to your talent acquisition partner.

Frequently asked questions on our hiring process

  • How do I apply for a job at Ørsted?
All our open positions are posted on our career page, and your application must be submitted online. Each job advertisement has an ‘Apply’ button. When you click this, you enter our application portal. If you already have a profile, you can log in here. Alternatively, you can simply create an account. Once you’ve filled in the form and uploaded your documents, you can either press ‘Save’ to finish your application later or press ’Apply’ to send your application.

With your login information, you can check the status of your application and change the details on your candidate profile at any time. However, it’s not possible to edit your application once it’s been moved to screening status.
  • Will I ever have to pay to apply for a job or attend an interview at Ørsted?
No! Unfortunately, Ørsted’s name and logo are occasionally used in fake job adverts that are circulated on social media. Scammers may also contact potential candidates with a job offer and ask them for a deposit. Ørsted will never ask you for any kind of payment during the hiring process. Our open positions are always posted here on our career page, and you must submit your application online via the application portal.
  • Do you accept unsolicited applications?
At Ørsted, we do not accept unsolicited applications. All candidates must apply via our website. We do this to be thorough and fair to all candidates. It’s important that all applications are collected in the same place for us to dedicate an equal amount of time and resources to everyone. Also, we take data protection seriously, and applying via our website ensures that all applications are treated in compliance with GDPR.
  • Can I edit my application after I’ve applied for a position?
When you submitted your application, you created a candidate profile. Via the profile, you can change your application while the status is 'New application'. When the status has changed to 'In progress’, you can no longer change your application. You can see the status and edit your application under ‘Job applied’.
  • Which language should I write my application documents in?
We typically recommend applying in English, as we’re an international company, and most of our job advertisements are in English. However, if the job advertisement is written in your native language, and you’re more comfortable writing in your mother tongue, that’s perfectly fine too.
  • Do you need to include a cover letter?
A cover letter isn’t required, however please feel welcome to include one if there’s information you’d like to share beyond your CV.
  • I’ve applied/been interviewed before and wasn’t selected. Can I apply again?
Absolutely. You’re always welcome to apply for other open positions.
  • Can I apply for multiple roles?
Yes. We recommend selecting a few roles that you believe are the best fit for you and the next step in your career.
  • When can I expect a response to my application?
In most cases, responses will be received after the job advert has been concluded. That being said, we do review resumes on an ongoing basis, so the sooner you apply, the better.
  • I wasn’t invited to a job interview. Can I get feedback on my application?
Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to give individual feedback to all applicants, however you will be offered feedback following the interview stage.
