DONG strengthened in Germany

06.06.2005 Andreas Halberschmidt, 43, has been appointed Managing Director of E-nord with effect from 1 June 2005. E-nord is owned by DONG and Energie und Wasser Lübeck (EWL). Andreas Halberschmidt has a strong background in the German energy sector, where his most recent post was as head of BP's German gas and electricity sales activities. He joined Rheinenergie AG in 1991 on graduating as a B.Sc. (engineering). In 2002 BP appointed him Key Account Manager of gas and electricity sales trading, and two years later he was appointed as Managing Director of BP Energie Marketing GmbH and BP Gas GmbH. E-nord's sales office is in Hamburg, and from here Andreas Halberschmidt will head the sales and marketing of DONG's energy and services in the German market. "We have been selling gas in Germany successfully for some years," says Kurt Bligaard Pedersen, Ex-ecutive Vice President of DONG Trade & Supply. "Last year we acquired a stake from the municipal Stadtwerke in Lübeck. The combination of a com-mercial energy company and an old-style municipal supply culture is an important parameter in the sale of energy and services in the German market. Here, E-nord will play a key part, and I am particu-larly pleased and satisfied that Andreas Halberschmidt has said yes to heading up the new company," says Kurt Bligaard Pedersen. Kay Langley, Managing Director of DONG Germany, will continue to take care of the contact with E-nord's customers until 1 October 2005, when Andreas Halberschmidt will take over responsibility for this. Kay Langley will continue as Managing Director of DONG Germany and will be in charge of DONG's other interests in the German energy market.
