Fitness and medical requirements for offshore access

At Ørsted, we require everyone working on or visiting offshore assets to meet recognised fitness and medical standards. These requirements apply to Ørsted employees and external contractors and support safe operations, effective emergency response, and regulatory compliance.

For offshore access, Ørsted applies the Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) Medical Guidelines as the minimum medical standard in several markets. If you’re unsure about local requirements, please reach out to your Ørsted contact. The current version of the OEUK Medical Guidelines (Issue 8) introduces an updated certification framework, including the use of conditional certificates and a safe weight limit of 124 kg (clothed weight) for everyone going offshore in the UK.

Medical examiners conducting offshore medical assessments in accordance with the OEUK Medical Guidelines (Issue 8) are responsible for ensuring that examinations and certificates comply with the applicable requirements. If a standard medical certificate can’t be issued due to medical considerations, medical examiners may contact Ørsted’s medical advisor for consultation before issuing a conditional certificate.
