Our solar and battery storage centers

Where we operate

We’ve expanded our solar and storage portfolio significantly in recent years. Today, we develop, construct, and operate solar and battery storage systems and currently have 460MWAC of solar PV and storage under construction.

Our solar and storage centers
  • Oak Solar
Oak Solar is located in Fairfield, NJ, and has exceeded projected production every year of operation.

Oak Solar is located on a 101-acre site and is comprised of 53,200 fixed solar panels. The project took only 18 months from early origination and development to commercial operation in 2012. At the time of its commissioning, Oak Solar was the largest non-utility owned solar power plant east of the Mississippi.

    Location Fairfield Township, NJ
Number of solar panels  53,200 fixed solar panels
    Capacity 10MWAC
Timeline Commercial operation began in May 2012.

  • Carnegie Road storage project
Carnegie Road storage project is located in Liverpool, United Kingdom, and is Ørsted’s first venture into large-scale storage.

The project is a 20MW stand-alone battery system consisting of three lithium battery containers, as well as the associated power conversion systems. The plant is designed to operate flexibly, switching between different markets as its services are needed by local utilities.

    Location Liverpool, United Kingdom
    Capacity 20MWAC
Timeline Commercial operation began in December 2018.

  • Permian Energy Center
Permian Energy Center is located in Andrews County, TX and is a 460MWAC solar PV plus storage project which will produce enough clean electricity to power approx 100,000 US homes.

Permian Energy Center marks a milestone for Ørsted, making it the first developer to own the 'full spectrum' of renewable technologies at utility scale in the U.S.— onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, and storage.
    Facts
    Location Andrews County, TX
Number of solar panels 1.3 million panels
Solar capacity 420MWAC from solar PV modules supplied by Jinko Solar and JA Solar
Storage capacity 40MWAC with one hour of capacity
Timeline Permian Energy Center will be operational by mid-2021
