Onshore wind is an unlimited and renewable source of clean energy with a vital role to play in the global shift to green energy.

As a green energy leader, Ørsted partners with industry leaders to deliver cost-effective and environmentally sound onshore solutions that meet the growing demand for clean, renewable power.

Our onshore business consists of wind assets across the US and Europe, where we currently have 4 GW in operation and under construction.

Today, our onshore wind projects provide green energy to thousands of homes, while also creating jobs and economic benefits in the local communities where they’re located.

The future of onshore wind

The future looks bright for onshore wind. Thanks to new technologies and increasing demand, solar and wind power are cheaper than fossil-fuel power in two thirds of the world. In the coming years, we’re dedicated to diversifying our renewable energy portfolio, with an ambition to grow our global footprint in onshore wind.

In the US, we currently have 2 GW under construction across the states of Alabama, Texas, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

In Ireland, we currently have an additional 45 MW ready to build and a further 298 MW in our advanced development pipeline.

By 2030, we aim to have 17.5 GW of onshore wind, solar, and storage capacity across our markets, while growing our portfolio towards a wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity mix.
