Exchanging Christmas presents with a Red Cross donation
DONG Energy is again this year supporting the Christmas initiatives of a charity organisation.
Each year, DONG Energy and its employees make a Christmas donation to a charity organisation. An amount is given from each employee's company Christmas present, which DONG Energy then doubles. Employees can also decide not to get a Christmas present and instead donate an amount corresponding to the value of the Christmas present to the Red Cross. In total, the Red Cross will receive a donation of DKK 201,200.
The donation is targeted at the Red Cross' Christmas activities and emergency relief operations abroad. Christmas aid is mainly about two things: 1) supporting disadvantaged people financially and inviting families with children to be with others and, 2) meeting a social need for some of the many people who involuntarily spend Christmas Eve by themselves. Emergency relief covers the Red Cross' engagement in Haiti, among other countries. Here, more than one million people are currently affected by the devastating hurricane Matthew. Hundreds of thousands have an acute need for help, and with the donation, we support the Danish Red Cross in their work with supplying medicine, food, water, mosquito nets, etc.
