Wind power procurement

Responsible for the sourcing of goods and services going into the construction and/or operation
of our wind farms

Ørsted Wind Power is subject to Directive 2014/25/EU of the European Parliament, and our procurement will take place according to this where applicable. Note: certain countries are exempt from the directive, e.g. the United Kingdom.

Relationship building

Building relationships with capable, competitive and innovative  suppliers is essential to delivering new projects successfully.

Wherever we operate, we seek a positive engagement with the local community. This promotes development of the local economy and supply chain.

Our approach to selecting key suppliers, of specific supplies and services, brings mutual benefits, including cost reductions due to economies of scale.  Our key suppliers understand and support Ørsted in our journey towards continuously reducing the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCoE).

In Ørsted Wind Power, we know that suppliers are a vital part of our success as market leader in the offshore wind business. Therefore, we value relationships with our suppliers and welcome new suppliers to be part of our supply chain.

Ørsted Wind Power uses a global qualification system framework in cooperation with Achilles, which operates the systems. Our intention is to make the process of doing business with Ørsted Wind Power transparent and secure equal opportunities for all suppliers.

We currently use 2 qualification systems:

  • Achilles Utilities NCE (formerly the Sellihca and Connexio databases): All our global categories as well as local categories in the EU and in the United Kingdom
  • Orsted Qualification System (OQS) for specific supply categories relating to Geosciences, Wind Assessment and Measurements, Project Certification Services and Marine Warranty Surveyor services.

The qualification systems are notified by publication in the supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union (Tenders Electronic Daily)*. In rare cases, Ørsted Wind Power will also publish EU tenders in the supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union.

Our aim is to reduce the cost, time and effort involved in doing business for both Ørsted Wind Power and our suppliers.

*) The OQS is expected to be fully implemented by the end of Q1 of 2018. Until an OQS Category is launched it will be sourced via the Achilles Utilities NCE, or in rare cases by EU tender publication in the supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union (Tenders Electronic Daily).
